Sue Spencer-Harrison
Sue is the founder and Managing Director of xué and a member of the coaching, psychotherapy, mediation, mentoring and supervision teams.
She has a background in education and psychology and has been a successful leader within the public and private sectors. She has extensive and successful experience in individual and team development, organisational and systems analysis, change management, executive recruitment and quality development.
Over the last 10 years, as a highly sought after consultant and coach, she has worked with organisations as well as directly with individuals. With organisations she works as a 'critical friend' helping them to analyse their effectiveness and to develop their systems and processes to secure a greater return on investment. With individuals and teams she is called on to use her skills as a coach, mentor, psychotherapist, supervisor or mediator. A key focus is supporting organisations and individuals to mange change, including cultural or significant personal change, proactively and positively.
- Leadership experience: in the public sector as the founder and Director of 3 successful businesses; a senior manager in schools and in local authorities including as a Chief Adviser and Inspector of Schools and Assistant Director of Education; as an inspector of local authorities and Children's Services across the health, education, social care, police and justice systems, and both the voluntary and community sectors
- Coaching experience: executive and personal development coaching with Chief Executives, Directors, Councillors, Headteachers, Governors, leadership teams using a range of tools, techniques and processes including solution focussed coaching, TA and NLP
- Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution experience: in personal and professional contexts
- Psychotherapy experience: working with individuals to support them remove barriers to achieving their goals. Includes support relating, for example, to stress and conflict management; work/life balance; removal of emotional and behavioural blocks and phobias
- Training experience: in wide range of areas including leadership and management; conflict management; assertiveness training; stress management; recruitment and selection; cross organisation and effective partnership working
- Psychometric assessment experience: use of ability, personality and motivation instruments to support recruitment and selection, coaching, career development and counselling; training in instruments such as SHL ability and personality assessments including OPQ32, Wave, Intrinsic, MBTI Steps I and II, Emotional Intelligence, Innovation Potential Indicator, Thomas-Kilman Conflict Mode and Strong Interest Inventory
- Supervision experience: individual and group supervision of coaches and psychotherapists using an integrative approach
Sue is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Special Group in Coaching Psychology (founder member); the National Council of Psychotherapists (NCP); the Civil Mediation Council (CMC); the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC); the American Board of NLP (ABNLP) Hypnotherapy (ABH) and the Time Line TherapyTM Association (TLTA); and has a national profile within Aspect. She has postgraduate qualifications in management, psychology and counselling; is a qualified performance coach; a Master Practitioner of NLP, Hypnotherapy and Time Line TherapyTM; holds a Certificate of Competence at Level B Intermediate Plus in psychometric assessment; and is recognised by The Law Society as a mediator and accredited by the NCP as a supervisor.
