Steve is a qualified coach and a member of the xué coaching and mentoring teams.

He has a corporate and military background having served with the Royal Air Force as a fast-jet navigator and latterly working with BAE Systems as an aircrew instructor, team supervisor and project manager. Steve has extensive experience of working in highly technical environments where planning and coordination are essential ingredients.

Since becoming a coach in 2009 Steve has worked with owners, directors and managers in both large and small organisations. He recognises the importance of balancing the needs of the task with the needs of the people involved to achieve the best possible outcome.

 

  • Leadership experience: as both a leader and a team member in military and corporate contexts. Steve has led complex flying missions involving several aircraft and crews of different nationalities and with his feet firmly on the ground, has led highly productive teams in the RAF and BAE Systems.

  • Coaching experience: in both large and small organisations of coaching key people. With an ability to create time and space for leaders to explore the reality of situations he has enabled growth in individuals and organisations. Steve uses a person-centred approach together with tools from solution-focused, positive psychology, emotional intelligence and cognitive-behavioural coaching.
     
  • Cross-cultural experience: over eight years’ experience of working in Saudi Arabia where he trained and mentored Saudi aircrew. Steve was able to engage with, and explain complicated concepts to, people who were not familiar with the subjects and whose first language was not English.
     
  • Training experience: extensive training and mentoring experience. As an instructor in the RAF and in Saudi Arabia he helped aircrew to develop their technical and leadership skills. He has carried out training needs analysis for complex roles and designed and delivered successful training programmes. 


Steve is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society and Special Group in Coaching Psychology, has a post-graduate certificate in emotional education and is a qualified NLP practitioner. He is also an accredited BarOn EQi and EQ360 practitioner.

He is fully committed to the xué learning philosophy and sees his role as a facilitator in unlocking unused potential in individuals, teams and organisations. By examining the reality of situations, including achievements and success, Steve aims to raise his clients’ awareness and make effective use of their strengths. By helping his clients to achieve their goals Steve promotes growth, fulfilment, confidence and well-being in the people that he serves.
