Jeff Matthews
Jeff worked initially in marketing but is now an experienced and respected coach and trainer. He brings vast experience as a member of xué's coaching, mentoring and supervision teams
He has a particular interest in supporting effective working relationships including working with teams who want to improve their ability to lead and manage.
He brings a blend of energy, enthusiasm and wit, combined with a deep understanding of the dynamics of human interaction to his work. His preferred style of working is a positive one that emphasises exploring the strengths and resources that individuals bring to solving problems and creating solutions.
Since training in Transactional Analysis (TA), and more recently Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Jeff has built a strong reputation as a coach and facilitator of learning and development. He brings a blend of pragmatic business and strategic skills, linked to a deep appreciation of the conscious and unconscious blocks. He recently added a qualification in Coaching Supervision and supports both internal and independent coaches in improving their practise.
- Leadership development experience: in local authority and commercial environments including Councils, the pharmaceutical, banking and retail industries; in developing leadership and competence development programmes with up to 5000 senior managers; developing a manager's ability to lead and motivate through developing a coaching style
- Team development experience: in the creation of various personalised team development programmes including Action Learning Facilitation; developing the coaching skills of store managers and trainers for a global retail outlet
- Coaching experience: ranging from personal, 1 to 1 coaching at Board and senior management levels to personal development programmes for staff in turn using coaching support from managers, including coaching supervision
- Assessment experience: developing effective performance feedback, including 360° programmes and Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
Jeff is an Honours graduate of Loughborough University in Management Science and also holds Diplomas in Marketing, Coaching (Oxford Brookes, 2000) and in Solution Focused Brief Therapy ( Birmingham University, 2005).
Jeff builds on the strengths and resources that clients bring, adopting a solution focused approach that creates energy and commitment. This approach reinforces xué's aim to help develop successful and lasting working relationships that benefit managers and staff alike.
