360 Degree Feedback . . . what is it used for?

In order for us to produce focused personal, professional development plans the need to receive effective feedback from those who are impacted by our behaviour is crucial.

360 Degree Feedback is a practical programme by which we can identify the one or two things to focus on to make the most improvement for ourselves, our team and the organisation.

The process can be used effectively as part of an individual personal development programme or contribute to a wider, whole system performance management process. It provides a view on how other people see and experience an individual in a particular context. In so doing it gives us an in-road into other people's perceptions rather than, necessarily, facts. Perceptions are, of course, influenced by each individual's experience of the world. However, in a leadership and management context it is very important to understand and manage perceptions as well as tasks and contexts.
